Chandigarh, March 3 (NationPress) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjeev Arora met with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday, just before the Cabinet meeting, to address significant issues confronting the industrial sector.
During their discussion, Arora brought forward the challenges presented by key industry associations, underscoring the government's dedication to tackling these problems.
After the announcement of the new OTS scheme, Arora thanked AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister Mann, and the Industry Minister for their proactive measures in dealing with industrial challenges.
“I express my gratitude to our national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, our Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and the Industry Minister for launching forward-thinking initiatives for the industry, particularly the OTS scheme for outstanding cases in PSIEC. I raised some urgent issues from the industrial sector, and they promptly agreed to address them,” Arora stated.
Arora, who is a candidate for the Ludhiana (West) assembly seat that will soon undergo bypolls, mentioned that he has collaborated with three major industry associations to compile a list of urgent issues.
“The associations informed me that many of their concerns had already been addressed since the AAP government took power. However, they collectively emphasized one primary request: the implementation of the one-time settlement (OTS) scheme for unresolved disputes concerning increased land costs and outstanding payments,” Arora noted.
Clarifying the significance of the OTS scheme, Arora remarked: “Industries have faced difficulties in securing loans and approvals from banks due to outstanding dues and faced harassment from other departments. Our government has made a groundbreaking decision by introducing the OTS scheme at a flat interest rate of only eight percent, which will greatly benefit the industry.”
Emphasizing the financial relief provided by the scheme, MP Arora stated: “Industry representatives have estimated that they will save Rs 2,160 per square yard thanks to this initiative. This advantage will directly fortify their financial standing and enhance their balance sheets.”
