Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 17 (NationPress) The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has accused the CPI(M)-led Kerala government of deliberately disseminating distorted history through school textbooks and teacher manuals published by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
The student organization claimed that the Class 4 Environmental Studies teachers’ handbook included “false propaganda” against freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, alleging he fled to Germany out of fear of the British authorities.
ABVP asserted that this constitutes a serious defamation of a national hero who sacrificed his life for the country’s independence. They also highlighted significant inaccuracies in the same textbook, such as the exclusion of Assam and Jharkhand from an India map in the second chapter.
The organization characterized this omission as part of a broader scheme to undermine the unity of the nation.
“By excluding Assam, the government is indirectly endorsing the ambitions of the Chinese Communist Party to seize Indian territory, while neglecting Jharkhand shows a lack of respect for tribal communities,” they claimed.
ABVP National Secretary Shravan B. Raj stated that the action was “a calculated attempt by the Communist Party-led Kerala government to manipulate the youth with false narratives.”
He added: “Depicting Netaji as a coward is nothing short of a malicious lie. The inaccuracies in the map are not mistakes but part of a conspiracy to undermine national integrity. This is a campaign to fracture India by anti-national forces.”
He further alleged that by omitting Assam, the ruling CPI(M) was demonstrating “allegiance to their ideological ancestors in China” and misleading students, who are “the future of Bharat.”
ABVP Kerala State Secretary E.U. Eswaraprasad stated that this incident revealed the toxic narrative being propagated by the Education Department.
“Kerala aspires to be a model for other states, but this is nothing short of a despicable act. This is a deliberate strategy by the ruling party to instill anti-national sentiments in young minds,” he said.
Eswaraprasad added that ABVP has lodged formal complaints to the state Education Minister and the Director of NCERT, demanding stringent action against the responsible officials.
“We will persist in opposing any attempts to politicize educational resources and distort history,” he stated.
The controversy has sparked strong reactions, with ABVP pledging to initiate protests if corrective measures are not implemented promptly.
