Hyderabad, June 29 (NationPress) A local court has placed Purna Chandra Badavath, who is implicated in the tragic suicide of TV news anchor Swetcha Votarkar, under judicial custody for a period of 14 days.
Purna Chandra surrendered to the authorities on Saturday night and was subsequently presented before a magistrate, who ordered his detention. He has since been moved to Chanchalguda Central Prison.
The police have recorded Purna Chandra's statement, as he faces allegations linking him to the news presenter's demise.
The body of Swetcha Votarkar (35) was discovered in her residence in Jawaharnagar, within the jurisdiction of Chikkadpally Police Station, late Friday evening. At the time, she was residing with her mother and young daughter in a penthouse.
Swetcha's daughter, returning home from school, became concerned upon receiving no answer after knocking on the bedroom door multiple times.
Upon her alert, neighbors forcibly opened the door, only to find Swetcha hanging from a ceiling fan. Paramedics pronounced her dead upon arrival.
A case has been filed at Chikkadpally Police Station regarding her death under suspicious circumstances, based on a complaint from Swetcha’s parents.
They have accused Purna Chandra of creating the conditions that led their daughter to take her own life.
It is reported that Purna Chandra was in a relationship with Swetcha, and under his influence, she had divorced her husband.
