Actor-Politician Vijay Claims DMK Deceived TN Residents Over NEET Cancellation

Chennai, Jan 11 (NationPress) The renowned Tamil actor and founder of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay, has charged the DMK with misleading the residents of Tamil Nadu through deceptive assertions regarding the cancellation of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Vijay took aim at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, asserting that the DMK leader has now acknowledged that the authority to abolish NEET lies solely with the Union Government.
Vijay contended that this admission reveals the DMK's duplicity during the 2021 Assembly elections, when the party promised to eliminate the exam if they were elected. He expressed his disappointment, questioning, "How much longer will they mislead us in our own land?"
He accused the DMK of employing false promises as a strategy to garner votes, only to neglect their commitments once in power. He highlighted that NEET was a pivotal issue during the 2021 Assembly elections, with the DMK proclaiming intentions to abolish it.
Vijay raised the question, "Now the DMK government claims that only the Centre can cancel NEET. Does this not constitute a betrayal of the trust placed in them by the electorate?"
On Friday, CM Stalin informed the Tamil Nadu Assembly that NEET would have been abolished had the INDIA bloc successfully formed the Central government. Nevertheless, he conceded that only the Union Government possesses the power to annul the exam.
CM Stalin also reminded the Assembly that during the tenures of Kalaignar Karunanidhi and J. Jayalalithaa, NEET was not enforced in Tamil Nadu. He alleged that the examination was introduced during the administration of AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS).
Meanwhile, Vijay's public rally at Vikkaravandi drew over 300,000 participants, marking a significant event in Tamil Nadu politics. During this gathering, Vijay characterized the BJP as his ideological adversary and the DMK as a political opponent.
He criticized the DMK for being a family-centric party that exploits the Dravidian identity for personal benefit while denouncing the BJP for engaging in divisive politics.
