Mumbai, March 21 (NationPress) Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited, a subsidiary of the diversified Adani Group, has successfully maintained its status as India’s leading distribution utility for the second year in a row, achieving an impressive score of 92.5. This score underscores its consistent performance across essential metrics, as announced by the company on Saturday.
Adani Electricity was awarded an A+ rating among 66 electricity distribution utilities evaluated nationwide. The company's strong performance is attributed to its reliability in supply, accuracy in billing, and efficient grievance resolution, highlighting that effective execution is pivotal to customer satisfaction, according to a company statement.
“Holding the No. 1 spot for the second consecutive year demonstrates the unwavering consistency and discipline with which our teams operate daily. This acknowledgment transcends mere performance statistics,” remarked Kandarp Patel, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Adani Electricity.
“It signifies the confidence our city places in us and reinforces our dedication to providing reliable, efficient, and robust power services that keep Mumbai's operations running smoothly,” Patel added.
The landscape of India’s power distribution sector is evolving toward a performance-driven model, showcasing improvements in operational efficiency, financial discipline, and consumer service.
This evolution is evident in the latest Distribution Utilities Ranking (DUR) and Consumer Service Rating of DISCOMs (CSRD), released by the Union Ministry of Power in collaboration with REC Limited.
Across the sector, consumer service metrics have shown improvement, with a greater number of utilities receiving A+, A, and B+ ratings. Six utilities achieved A+ ratings, while none were classified in the lowest category.
Adani Electricity’s achievements indicate robust financial and operational efficiency, resource adequacy, supply planning, and advancing digital capabilities through sophisticated metering and analytics.
Currently serving over 3 million consumers in Mumbai, the utility prioritizes reliability, responsiveness, and transparency as fundamental elements of its service, according to the company.
The rankings illustrate a more competitive environment, showcasing top performers among both private and state-owned utilities, including Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL), Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL), Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL), and Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST).
This mix highlights a transition towards outcomes driven by governance, execution, and technological adoption.
