Ahmedabad, Sep 16 (NationPress) The Adani Group has initiated criminal defamation proceedings against YouTuber Abhisar Sharma and blogger Raju Parulekar, claiming that they have intentionally disseminated false and defamatory information to damage its reputation.
A court in Gujarat has issued summons to both individuals, instructing them to appear on September 20. Should they admit to the charges, the cases may advance to trial, where they could face penalties of up to two years in prison, fines, or both.
The complaints were filed with the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Gandhinagar (PS Adalaj) and invoke Sections 356(1), 356(2), and 356(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which correspond to IPC Sections 499, 500, and 501.
The allegations stem from a YouTube video posted by Sharma on August 18, 2025, in which he claims that vast amounts of land in Assam were allocated to Adani and links the company to a pattern of alleged political favoritism, along with a series of tweets and retweets by Parulekar since January 2025, making similar assertions regarding land seizures, scams, and undue advantages.
Adani contends that these claims are unfounded and deceptive, highlighting that the Gauhati High Court ruling from August 12, 2025, which they referenced, does not mention the Adani Group.
Furthermore, the company clarified that Mahabal Cement Pvt Ltd, the entity at the heart of the High Court case, has no affiliation with Adani whatsoever.
The evidence submitted to the court comprises the video and transcript from Sharma, Parulekar's social media content, the Gauhati High Court order, and additional supporting documentation.
