Ahmedabad, Sep 16 (NationPress) A Gujarat court has issued notices to YouTuber Abhisar Sharma and blogger Raju Parulekar, accusing them of intentionally disseminating false and defamatory information aimed at damaging the reputation of the Adani Group.
The Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class in Gandhinagar (Adalaj police station) has summoned both individuals and required their presence on September 20, as stated by Adani Group's attorney Sanjay Thakkar.
If the allegations are upheld, the cases could proceed to trial, where both could face up to two years in prison, fines, or a combination of both.
The lawyer elaborated that the notices were issued under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which mandates that "no cognizance of an offence shall be taken by the Magistrate without providing the accused an opportunity for a hearing".
"Upon receiving the notice, both individuals must appear either personally or through their legal representatives in court on September 20 to present their defense. While Sharma is accused of posting defamatory content on his YouTube channel, Parulekar is charged with making defamatory statements on platform X," Thakkar explained.
The complaints refer to a YouTube video posted on August 18, 2025, by Sharma, claiming that thousands of bighas of land in Assam were allocated to Adani and linking the company to a series of alleged political favors. Additionally, Parulekar has been noted for a series of tweets and retweets beginning in January 2025, echoing similar accusations of land grabs and scams, as per the lawyer's statements.
In both cases, Adani asserts that the allegations are "baseless and misleading", especially since the Gauhati High Court order dated August 12, 2025 does not mention the Adani Group.
The company has clarified that Mahabal Cement Pvt Ltd, the entity involved in the High Court case, has no ties to Adani.
Evidence submitted to the court includes Sharma's video and its transcript, Parulekar’s social media posts, the Gauhati High Court order, and other supporting documents.
