New Delhi, Sep 15 (NationPress) On the day the Supreme Court granted a clean bill of health to the Vantara wildlife facility located in Jamnagar, Gujarat, Team Vantara expressed that this decision serves as an affirmation of their mission and reaffirmed their commitment to animal healing.
A bench comprising Justices Pankaj Mithal and Prasanna B. Varale accepted the report from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and dismissed the accusations against the Vantara wildlife facility concerning the acquisition of animals, particularly elephants, as well as adherence to the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
In a statement released on the same day, Team Vantara remarked, “With profound humility and appreciation, we embrace the conclusions of the Special Investigation Team appointed by the Supreme Court of India. The findings of the SIT along with the Supreme Court’s directive clarify that the doubts and allegations against Vantara’s animal welfare initiatives were groundless.”
This validation by the esteemed members of the SIT not only brings relief to the entire Vantara team but is also a blessing, as it allows their work to shine through.
“The SIT’s conclusions and the Supreme Court’s ruling empower us further to continue our dedication to those who cannot voice their needs. The entire Vantara family expresses heartfelt gratitude for this validation and reaffirms our lifelong commitment to protecting and nurturing animals and birds with compassion,” stated Team Vantara.
Team Vantara emphasized that their mission has always revolved around love, compassion, and accountability toward the voiceless beings among us. Each animal rescued, each bird rehabilitated, and each life saved serves as a reminder that their welfare is intertwined with our humanity. When we care for animals, we are nurturing the very soul of humanity.
“We take this moment to pledge our solidarity with the Government of India, State Governments, and all parties involved in the vital and challenging endeavor of animal care. We affirm that Vantara will always be prepared to collaborate closely with them. Together, let’s strive to make Mother Earth a better habitat for all living beings,” concluded Team Vantara.
The Supreme Court, in an order issued on August 25, mandated the formation of an SIT to investigate a range of allegations, not only against Vantara but also implicating statutory authorities and even judiciary.
The SIT was assigned to scrutinize matters such as the acquisition of animals, particularly elephants, both domestically and internationally; compliance with the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972; obligations under the International Convention on Trade of Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna (CITES); standards of veterinary care and animal welfare; allegations of establishing a private collection; misuse of resources; and claims of financial misconduct and money laundering.
Recently, the SIT, which included former Chief Justices and senior officials, submitted its report to the Supreme Court in a sealed envelope.
