New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul expressed a strong response to Shashi Tharoor’s recent commendation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, raising questions about his newfound admiration for the leader. Paul suggested that the Congress MP might be seeking to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in pursuit of the Chief Minister position in Kerala.
In an interview with IANS, Paul stated, “The efforts made by Prime Minister Modi for 140 crore Indians are genuinely praiseworthy. Anyone with even a modicum of understanding would recognize this. But why is Shashi Tharoor suddenly lauding him? What is the underlying motive? There are rumors that he aims to transition to the BJP so that he can be appointed as Chief Minister of Kerala.”
Paul further asserted that Tharoor’s compliments were likely driven by political ambitions rather than sincerity. She added, “Individuals like him seldom act without a hidden agenda. They prioritize their own ambitions over the well-being of the populace. Shashi Tharoor, your praise of PM Modi and the BJP is clearly linked to your aspirations to become the Chief Minister of Kerala, isn’t it?”
Shashi Tharoor recently praised India’s 'Vaccine Maitri' initiative, which was implemented during the COVID-19 crisis under the Prime Minister's leadership.
Tharoor described the initiative as one of India's most notable achievements, stating, “India’s vaccine diplomacy during the Covid pandemic is a remarkable example of international leadership founded on responsibility and solidarity.”
Earlier in March, he also endorsed PM Modi’s perspective on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, underscoring the Prime Minister's appeal for diplomacy as a pathway to resolve the ongoing dispute.
He referenced PM Modi's comments in Samarkand, asserting, “This is not an era of war; peaceful solutions are attainable.”
