Bhopal, Dec 13 (NationPress) Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and current Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized on Saturday that farmers should not depend solely on agriculture for boosting their income. He encouraged the adoption of additional activities like dairy and animal husbandry.

During a Kisan Sangosthi hosted by the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) in Vidisha, Chouhan addressed a substantial audience of farmers, including individuals from Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Scheduled Castes (SC), stressing the importance of diversification for sustainable income.

“In contemporary times, farmers cannot solely rely on agriculture for income enhancement. They must embrace other ventures. Engaging in milk production and caring for cows can significantly benefit farmers, especially those with limited land,” Chouhan stated.

He noted that animal husbandry has been a valuable strategy for increasing rural incomes and pointed out that NDRI workshops are equipping farmers with specialized training in this field.

Following the event, Chouhan interacted with women farmers and received their warm wishes.

Affectionately known as ‘Mama’ for his Ladli Laxmi Yojana initiated in 2007 and the Ladli Behna Yojana rolled out in 2022, the BJP leader also planted a sapling in Bhopal earlier in the day, continuing his commitment to environmental awareness.

Meanwhile, his arrival in Bhopal coincided with a surge in security measures, stirring speculation. Party insiders clarified that the heightened security was part of routine protocols following a systematic review by the Union Home Ministry. Directions were issued to both the Madhya Pradesh and Delhi administrations to reinforce his security, as stated by a BJP spokesperson.
