Ahmedabad, December 7 (NationPress) - The vibrant city of Gujarat’s Ahmedabad is gearing up for a significant spiritual event on Sunday, known as the ‘Pramukh Varni Amrut Mahotsav’, to be held at the Riverfront Event Centre.
This occasion commemorates the 104th birth anniversary of Pramukh Swami Maharaj and celebrates the 75th anniversary of his leadership role as President of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.
The celebration will feature esteemed guests including BAPS spiritual leader Mahant Swami Maharaj, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, among various dignitaries.
A cultural tribute will illuminate Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s dedicated humanitarian efforts, followed by a mesmerizing river display showcasing thematic floating tableaux on the Sabarmati River, reflecting his life, principles, and worldwide impact.
The legacy of Pramukh Swami Maharaj began on May 21, 1950, when Shastriji Maharaj appointed the then 28-year-old Shastri Narayanswarupdas as the lifelong President of BAPS at the Ambli Vali Pol temple in Shahpur.
He was affectionately known as Pramukh Swami Maharaj and became a leading global spiritual figure.
On that historic day, he vowed steadfast loyalty to his guru and the organization, pledging to serve selflessly for the spiritual and physical welfare of devotees.
Ambli Vali Pol is a historic site in BAPS’s journey, housing the organization’s first Ahmedabad temple (1940), its inaugural Gujarati magazine (1938), and the young Pramukh Swami’s initiation (1939), alongside many pivotal decisions that propelled BAPS’s international growth.
In anticipation of this 75-year milestone, thousands of devotees have journeyed to Ambli Vali Pol over the past year to honor Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s legacy.
The main festivities on Sunday, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, will include multimedia presentations, cultural performances, and tributes celebrating his messages of peace, service, and compassion.
A highlight of the evening will be the themed floats on the Sabarmati River, narrating the story of Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s life and philanthropic endeavors. Preparations for this grand event have been in progress for two months.
Over 40,000 devotees are anticipated to attend, facilitated by coordinated bus services.
Special parking arrangements and traffic management have been established along the Riverfront.
