Chennai, Feb 25 (NationPress) Expelled AIADMK leader and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu O. Panneerselvam (OPS) has asserted that the AIADMK, under its present leadership, is on a path towards decline.
In a statement released on Tuesday, OPS criticized the party’s leadership, claiming that “hypocrisy will not prevail.”
He recalled that former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa had once compared him to Bharata, the younger brother of Lord Ram, due to his loyalty.
Panneerselvam stressed that Jayalalithaa acknowledged his devotion and loyalty to the AIADMK, receiving commendation from Amma (Jayalalithaa) herself. However, he chose not to directly mention Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS).
“The downfall of AIADMK is unavoidable unless arrogant hypocrites are removed,” he proclaimed.
“Betrayal will certainly be defeated, hypocrisy will be eradicated, and the ungrateful will be discarded.”
The former Chief Minister reaffirmed his steadfast loyalty to Jayalalithaa, who had appointed him as Chief Minister. He remarked, “This is not merely my assertion; Amma herself stated that ‘Brother Panneerselvam made history by restoring the throne to its rightful owner.’ Idhaya Deivam (Goddess of Heart, as Jayalalithaa was venerated) proudly likened me to Bharata.”
Characterizing AIADMK as a sinking ship, he commented, “No one boards a sinking vessel.”
He cautioned that unless the party rids itself of those he labeled as “embodiments of treachery and deceit,” ruin would be inevitable. “Otherwise, a downfall is assured.”
OPS further stated that the sin of betrayal cannot be erased. Referencing Tamil poet-saint Thiruvalluvar, he remarked, “All things come to those who wait.”
“Wait until May 2026,” he concluded. “Then we will see who governs Tamil Nadu. The ungrateful will be expelled. Betrayal will falter. Hypocrisy will be vanquished.”
It’s noteworthy that on February 23, AIADMK General Secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) vehemently criticized Panneerselvam, ruling out the possibility of reinstating him and other expelled members into the party.
In a letter to AIADMK cadres on the eve of Jayalalithaa’s 77th birthday, EPS wrote: “Can a wolf and a lamb coexist? Can weeds and crops grow together to yield a good harvest? Can a loyalist and a traitor stand united? I can hear you all echoing - it’s impossible.”
