Chennai, Dec 28 (NationPress) In the midst of the AIADMK’s comprehensive campaign named “Let Us Protect the People, Let Us Save Tamil Nadu,” party General Secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) took to the streets on Sunday to campaign in the Tiruporur and Sholinganallur Assembly constituencies, vehemently criticizing the ruling DMK government and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
During a public meeting in Tiruporur, Palaniswami addressed Chief Minister Stalin’s previous challenge about whether the AIADMK had delivered even “five per cent” of its promises while in governance.
“The creation of Kallakurichi district was a significant achievement of the AIADMK government. We didn’t just meet five per cent of our commitments; we accomplished 95 per cent of what we promised to the populace,”
he stated.
He accused the DMK government of not fulfilling even five per cent of its own electoral pledges and criticized their management of employment schemes.
He recalled that the DMK had vowed to increase the days of work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) from 100 to 150 upon assuming office.
“Instead of delivering on that promise, they are now branding the continuation of the 100-day scheme as a significant success,”
he mentioned.
Palaniswami claimed that it was the AIADMK administration that influenced the Centre to elevate the guaranteed workdays from 100 to 125.
“Upon our return to power, we will elevate that to 150 days, ensuring consistent employment and increased wages,”
he asserted.
Reflecting on the Covid-19 pandemic, Palaniswami emphasized that the AIADMK government effectively navigated the crisis and protected the populace.
“During the pandemic, we made sure that every ration card holder received Rs 2,500 to allow families to celebrate Pongal with dignity. Under the current administration, not a single rupee was allocated during the last Pongal,”
he claimed.
Outlining proposed welfare initiatives, the AIADMK leader pledged that his party would grant Rs 5,000 to all ration card holders during Pongal, Rs 25,000 as financial aid to women, subsidized two-wheelers, Rs 50,000 as marriage assistance, and free silk sarees for women during Deepavali.
In conclusion, Palaniswami stated that the AIADMK’s mission is to protect the people of Tamil Nadu, restore effective governance, and steer the state back towards development and stability.
