New Delhi, Oct 13 (NationPress) The All-India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has announced plans to establish help desks across various states to support mutawallis (trustees) in navigating the UMEED Portal and uploading information regarding Waqf properties, according to a recent statement.
During a Board meeting led by Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, it was determined that these help desks will be set up in key locations in all states, working in collaboration with Muslim organizations and skilled professionals.
The statement from Office Secretary Dr. M. Vaquar Uddin Latifi revealed that there was an in-depth discussion on the registration process for Waqf properties on the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development (UMEED) Portal.
Previously, various complaints had been raised from multiple states by Waqf mutawallis indicating that the portal is not user-friendly, often crashes, and that uploading a single property document can take approximately 40-45 minutes. The portal also requires numerous documents, and if even one essential document is absent, the upload process is interrupted, as noted.
To resolve these challenges, it has been decided that Waqf Help Desks will be established in every state and key location to provide guidance and support to the concerned individuals and mutawallis in uploading their documents.
The Board has also submitted a petition to the Supreme Court requesting an extension of the portal's deadline and advocating for a more straightforward and user-friendly system. The next court hearing regarding this issue is set for October 28.
This marked the first in-person meeting of the Board following the interim judgment on the Waqf (Amendment) Act, during which the Board’s legal team member and counsel, Senior Advocate M.R. Shamshad, shared details of the court's interim order with the Executive Members.
Several members expressed their desire for greater relief from the court concerning the 'controversial clauses' of the law.
Dr. S. Q. R. Ilyas, Convener of the Tahaffuz-e-Auqaf (Protection of Waqf Properties) Campaign, updated the members on the second phase of their campaign against the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025.
It was unanimously resolved that all efforts would be made to ensure the success of the public meeting scheduled at Ram Lila Ground, Delhi, on November 16, as stated.
