Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 22 (NationPress) In a significant move, Air India and Air India Express are set to launch a total of 30 scheduled and non-scheduled flights connecting to and from West Asia on Monday, despite ongoing limitations on several routes, as per an official announcement from the airline.
Through their social media channel on X, the airline stated, "On March 23, 2026, Air India and Air India Express will collectively operate 30 flights to and from the West Asia region, encompassing both scheduled and non-scheduled services."
Both airlines will sustain their scheduled flights to Jeddah, facilitating a total of 10 flights between India and this Saudi Arabian city. Air India will provide one return flight from both Delhi and Mumbai, while Air India Express will offer services from Bengaluru, Kozhikode, and Mangaluru.
In addition to Jeddah, Air India Express will conduct four scheduled flights to and from Muscat, covering routes from Delhi and Mumbai. Furthermore, it will operate four scheduled flights connecting Riyadh from Bengaluru and Kozhikode.
Beyond the scheduled services, the Air India group plans to operate 12 non-scheduled flights to and from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia, depending on slot availability and operational parameters. These flights are authorized by both Indian and local regulatory bodies.
Among the UAE destinations, additional flights will be provided to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.
Air India will manage flights between Delhi and Dubai, whereas Air India Express will facilitate connections between Delhi and Mumbai to Abu Dhabi, as well as flights from Mangaluru to Sharjah.
However, the airline has noted that there will be no scheduled or ad hoc flights to numerous destinations including Ras Al Khaimah and Al Ain in the UAE, Salalah in Oman, Dammam in Saudi Arabia, as well as Bahrain, Doha, Kuwait, and Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, all flights by Air India to and from North America, Europe, Australia, and other regions will proceed as scheduled.
Passengers affected by the temporary suspension of services on certain routes have been provided the opportunity to re-book at no extra cost or receive a full refund. Air India encourages travelers to visit its website or reach out to customer support for further assistance.
Travelers on Air India Express, especially those flying from UAE stations, have the option to re-book on additional commercial flights without incurring extra fees. The airline has also enabled re-booking through its digital assistant on WhatsApp.
The airline group is actively contacting affected passengers and is considering the feasibility of operating further ad hoc flights to destinations in West Asia.
