New Delhi, May 8 (NationPress) In a significant show of solidarity with India's armed forces, Air India and Air India Express have announced complimentary rescheduling of tickets and full refunds for defense personnel holding reservations with the airlines. This initiative follows the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 and the ensuing launch of Operation Sindoor.
The Tata-owned airline confirmed on Wednesday that this offer extends to flights operated by both Air India and Air India Express.
Defense personnel who purchased special fares and booked flights on Air India and Air India Express until May 31, 2025, are entitled to full refunds in the event of cancellation.
Moreover, a one-time rescheduling waiver will be available for those needing to change travel plans until June 30, 2025.
The airline highlighted that this initiative is intended as a tribute to the “selfless service” and “duty commitments” of the armed forces.
This announcement coincides with the Indian armed forces' successful operation that dismantled nine terrorist infrastructures affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Toiba in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) during a precise 25-minute missile and drone strike conducted early Wednesday.
In a statement on X, Air India conveyed, “In the prevailing situation, for those personnel holding defense fares who are booked on Air India and Air India Express flights until May 31, 2025, we are offering full refunds on cancellation and a one-time waiver on rescheduling flights up to June 30, 2025, to support their duty commitments.”
Details on how eligible personnel can utilize this offer were also shared by the airline.

During the recent precision strike lasting 25 minutes, Indian forces targeted nine high-value terrorist sites, including significant camps associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Toiba in Muridke. These groups have been implicated in orchestrating cross-border attacks against India. According to reports, the Indian armed forces effectively deployed advanced unmanned aerial vehicles and surface-to-surface missiles to neutralize these terror hubs.
Air India Express echoed this sentiment, reaffirming its commitment to aiding military personnel during this period of heightened national vigilance.
Security across India's border states remains stringent, and military readiness is at an all-time high to deter any further provocations following the Pahalgam incident.
