Mumbai, Jan 28 (NationPress) The government of Maharashtra has announced a three-day mourning period as a mark of respect following the unfortunate passing of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. His cremation is scheduled for Thursday at 11 a.m., as per the official statement from the state government.
Throughout these three days, the national flag will be displayed at half-mast on all government buildings in Maharashtra where it is normally flown. Additionally, all government entertainment events are to be suspended during this time. It has also been confirmed that state government offices will remain closed on Wednesday.
Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are expected to attend the cremation.
Political leaders from various parties have expressed their condolences over the passing of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.

This tragic event has resulted in the loss of a dedicated, experienced leader who was committed to the improvement of Maharashtra. His remarkable influence on state politics was marked by his decisiveness and dedication to progress.”
He continued, “In this challenging time, we share in the sorrow of the Pawar family, as well as all members of the NCP. May they find the fortitude to cope with this grief—this is our heartfelt prayer. Tribute! Om Shanti.”
Former CM Sushil Kumar Shinde stated, “I learned about this heartbreaking event this morning... He was a colleague who worked alongside us for nearly 20 years. While I was Chief Minister, he was part of my Council of Ministers. He was recognized as a gentle and supportive colleague who was always willing to help... His contributions to Maharashtra's political landscape and his dedicated efforts for the underprivileged, farmers, and cooperatives will always be remembered. This is a profound loss that cannot be compensated. My condolences.”
Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav expressed, “I have known Ajit Dada since 1990... He was straightforward, hardworking, and valued time immensely. He always spoke his mind... His passing is a significant tragedy for Maharashtra, leaving us all in shock... I pay my heartfelt tribute to him.”
Congress MP Digvijaya Singh commented, “Ajit Pawar ji had a long political career. The question arises - why did this accident happen? Preliminary information indicates a similar aircraft from the same company experienced a crash in Mumbai three years ago due to low visibility. The DGCA should thoroughly investigate this incident. Who is responsible for maintaining the aircraft owned by the company involved?”
