Ajit Pawar Plane Crash: Family Demands In-Depth Investigation as Parth Pawar Plans to Meet PM Modi
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 5 (NationPress) In the aftermath of the tragic plane crash that claimed the life of former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, his family members have raised concerns regarding the circumstances of the incident.
Reports indicate that Parth Pawar, Ajit Pawar's son, along with other relatives, is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to advocate for a thorough investigation into the crash. On Thursday, Parth Pawar also submitted his nomination as the NCP candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has already called for a CBI inquiry into the accident, and the family's involvement has intensified the push for a more detailed examination.
This demand for an extensive probe follows troubling allegations from close family members. NCP (SP) legislator Rohit Pawar, Ajit Pawar’s nephew, previously held a press conference expressing concerns regarding the aviation company VSR Ventures and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Further escalating the situation, Ajit Pawar’s younger son, Jay Pawar, released a video purportedly showing VSR Ventures' owner, Rohit Singh, asleep in the pilot's seat during a flight. Jay Pawar has also petitioned the DGCA for stringent actions against the company.
On Wednesday evening, approximately 20 NCP MLAs convened with Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar at the official residence ‘Devgiri’ to discuss alleged discrepancies related to the crash.
Sources reveal that the Pawar family is dissatisfied with the initial findings of the investigation.
During the anticipated meeting with the Prime Minister, Parth Pawar is expected to request a comprehensive technical audit of VSR Ventures and an investigation into the safety measures allegedly adhered to or neglected by the DGCA.
Additionally, he is likely to demand an independent inquiry to eliminate any potential for foul play.
The unfolding situation has garnered significant attention in Maharashtra as one of the state's most influential political families seeks clarity.
Previously, NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule called for a transparent inquiry following Ajit Pawar's fatal plane crash in Baramati on January 28.
In a press conference, Sule noted the anxiety felt by those who respected Ajit Pawar and emphasized the necessity for a fair investigation to uphold public confidence.
“Those who cherish Ajit Dada are troubled. There is a unified demand for a clear investigation into the event. Both Rohit Pawar and Jay Pawar have persistently raised concerns regarding this, and it is essential for the truth to emerge through a transparent inquiry,” Sule stated.
She continued: “People from all across Maharashtra who admire Ajit Dada are restless. Rohit and Jay are voicing their concerns due to the public’s unease. There is a collective demand for a transparent investigation into what transpired. I make this statement not solely because Rohit and Jay are my family members; it reflects the wishes of countless supporters of Ajit Dada that the facts must be revealed transparently.”
