Mumbai, March 5 (NationPress) – Supriya Sule, the working president of the NCP (Sharad Pawar) and a Member of Parliament, has called for a thorough investigation into the recent plane crash involving former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, which occurred in Baramati on January 28.
During a press briefing, Sule expressed that many who admire Ajit Pawar are feeling deep concern following the incident. She underscored the importance of an open and honest inquiry to preserve public confidence.
“Those who hold Ajit Dada in high esteem are understandably anxious. There is a unified request for a transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Both Rohit Pawar and Jay Pawar have persistently sought clarity on this matter, and it is crucial that the truth is revealed through a fair investigation,” Sule stated.
She elaborated, saying, “People throughout Maharashtra who care about Ajit Dada are restless. Rohit and Jay are voicing concerns because there is a palpable sense of unease among the public. The demand for a transparent probe into the incident is not merely familial; it reflects the wishes of numerous supporters of Ajit Dada who deserve clarity.”
With Ajit Pawar's son, Parth Pawar, poised to join the Rajya Sabha for the first time, Sule was queried about the advice she would impart as an aunt and experienced legislator. Drawing from the teachings of Sharad Pawar, she highlighted the values of humility and diligence.
Sule remarked that the privilege of ascending to the Parliament is granted solely by the electorate.
“If you remain true to their sentiments, the steps of Parliament will always be open to you,” she advised.
Her primary counsel for those in legislative roles was to keep their “ears open and mouths shut” unless they have something significant to contribute.
She emphasized that since the nation observes parliamentary sessions and many members possess profound knowledge, one should only speak after adequate research and preparation. Notably, Parth Pawar is her nephew.
The Rajya Sabha elections for seven seats in Maharashtra are anticipated to be uncontested. Six candidates from the ruling Mahayuti alliance, including Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, BJP general secretary Vinod Tawde, tribal leader Maya Chintaman Ivnate, Ramrao Wadkute from the Dhangar community in Hingoli (BJP), Parth Pawar (NCP), and Jyoti Waghmare (Shiv Sena), have submitted their nominations. Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar (NCP-SP), supported by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), is also expected to enter the Upper House.
Sule conveyed her gratitude to the MVA partners for their backing of Sharad Pawar. She also recognized the enduring connection between the Pawar family and the constituents of Baramati.
“The political legacy initiated by Pawar Saheb in 1967 continues thanks to the people of Baramati. Those who have supported him for six decades remain with us. I express my thanks to both the voters and the MVA leadership, and I wish every candidate who has been elected unopposed today the best,” she concluded.
