Jaipur, March 1 (NationPress) The hearing regarding the claim of a Shiva temple located within the sanctum sanctorum of Ajmer Dargah, originally set for Saturday, has been rescheduled to April 19.

This postponement occurred due to the Ajmer bandh taking place on Saturday, which was a response to the Bijaynagar rape and blackmail incident and garnered support from the District Bar Association.

In the previous hearing on January 24, the Dargah Committee sought more time from the court, arguing that ‘the plaintiff's petition is not worth hearing’.

In reply, the court requested a response from the National President of Hindu Sena, Vishnu Gupta, who provided one. The Dargah Committee then asked for additional time, resulting in the court setting the next hearing for March 1.

Gupta filed a petition claiming the presence of a temple at the Dargah site. The Dargah Committee countered this by requesting the petition's dismissal via a court application.

Though Gupta did not visit Ajmer in person on Saturday, he addressed the court via video.

He remarked, “Today’s court hearing is significant. I anticipate that the petition from the Dargah Committee will be rejected and that an order for a survey will be issued.”

Gupta's claims are based on three aspects, which include the structure and door carvings: he noted that the Buland Darwaza at the Dargah resembles the entrance of Hindu temples, with carvings suggesting a prior temple existed there. Additionally, he referenced the upper structure of the Dargah, noting its similarity to remnants of a Hindu temple.

The domes imply that a temple may have been destroyed to build the Dargah. He also mentioned water features in his plea, stating that Shiva temples are traditionally associated with water sources and waterfalls, which are present within the premises of Ajmer Dargah.
