Lucknow, Oct 11 (NationPress) The Facebook page of Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav was reinstated on Saturday after being inactive for almost 16 hours, according to a party representative.

The SP claimed that the brief suspension of the page was part of a “BJP conspiracy.”

The page became inaccessible on Friday evening without any forewarning or explanation from Facebook.

Initially, party representatives thought it might be due to a technical error, but after receiving no clarifications from the platform, suspicions of foul play arose.

Shortly after the page was restored, Yadav shared his first post, quoting Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan: “By ‘total revolution,’ I mean seeing the most oppressed people in society at the pinnacle of power.”

While Yadav chose not to discuss the reasons for the suspension, SP sources indicated that the party had contacted Facebook via email regarding the issue.

SP spokesperson Dr. Ashutosh Verma stated that an investigation should clarify whether the suspension stemmed from a technical issue or political meddling.

“His WhatsApp and other accounts were functioning normally, so we need to determine if it was a technical error. However, this might also be a conspiracy orchestrated by the BJP,” he remarked.

Verma further noted, “In 2021, an amendment to the IT Act required two government liaison officers for all social media platforms. The government could exploit this mechanism to limit the reach of public figures. They might have sought to temporarily block Akhilesh Yadav’s content. The BJP has been striving to gain control over social media as it remains an open platform.”

Akhilesh Yadav’s Facebook page, boasting over eight million followers, is a vital channel for his communication with party members, supporters, and the general public.

The precise cause of the page’s brief suspension remains ambiguous. While some attribute it to a technical malfunction, others speculate it might have arisen from a complaint lodged against the account.
