Jaipur, Aug 12 (NationPress) Amin Khan, the former Minister of Rajasthan and a prominent figure in the political landscape, has officially rejoined the Congress party after a hiatus of nearly 16 months.
On Tuesday, the party's State In-charge, Sukhwinder Singh Randhawa, announced the formal reinstatement, effectively revoking Khan's earlier expulsion.
Khan had been expelled on April 26, 2024, following allegations made by Barmer-Jaisalmer MP Ummedaram Beniwal, who claimed that Khan engaged in anti-party activities during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
It was alleged that Khan had backed an Independent candidate, Ravindra Singh Bhati, instead of the official Congress nominee.
In his statement, Randhawa mentioned that Khan had made numerous requests to the Pradesh Congress Committee for his return.
Considering his age and significant contributions to the Congress, Khan's suspension has been lifted immediately, he added.
Following the announcement of his reinstatement, Khan shared the phrase 'Satyamev Jayate' on his official X account.
He had been actively seeking to rejoin the party, including efforts in Delhi.
Recently, during the visit of the Rajasthan party In-charge, state president, former Chief Minister, and Deputy Chief Minister to Barmer, his supporters organized protests to urge party leaders to reinstate him.
Randhawa's order highlighted that Khan's expulsion stemmed from indiscipline and anti-party behavior as per the complaint from MP Beniwal.
This is not the first instance where Khan faced disciplinary measures; in 2011, he had to resign as a Minister following a controversial remark about then-President Pratibha Patil.
Throughout his public statements, Khan has asserted his lifelong dedication to the Congress and expressed his intention to continue advocating for the party's interests.
