Jaipur, Jan 17 (NationPress) In a significant political shift, former Rajasthan Minister Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya, who transitioned from Congress to the BJP, has made his return to the historic party.

Sources within the party reveal that Malviya's reinstatement was subjected to evaluations at three different levels.

Upon completion of the internal procedures, Govind Singh Dotasra, the President of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), submitted a comprehensive report to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in Delhi late Friday night.

Within an hour, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge approved the proposal, leading to the issuance of an official letter confirming Malviya's return that same evening.

Following this, K.C. Venugopal, Congress General Secretary (Organisation), communicated the approval from Delhi to Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, the party’s in-charge of Rajasthan, indicating that Malviya’s formal joining event is anticipated to be organized soon at the state Congress headquarters.

Earlier that day, a meeting of the Rajasthan Congress Disciplinary Committee, led by former minister Udaylal Anjana, convened to deliberate on Malviya's case.

The committee reached a unanimous decision to recommend his reinstatement, thereby facilitating his return to the party he left during the last Assembly elections.

However, a procedural issue surfaced as Malviya was previously a member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC).

According to party regulations, decisions regarding such matters cannot be made at the state level. Consequently, the Disciplinary Committee forwarded its recommendation to the PCC chief, who sought the central leadership's approval.

Dotasra later clarified that given Malviya's previous CWC membership, the decision was rightly made at the AICC level, and formal orders have now been issued.

Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, Udaylal Anjana, noted that the return of other leaders, including Kanta Bhil, Khiladi Lal Berwa, Gopal Gurjar, Kailash Meena, and Subhash Tamboli, was also discussed.

Committee member Shakuntala Rawat mentioned that numerous BJP leaders are feeling “disillusioned” and are in contact with Congress leaders, suggesting more political transitions might unfold in the near future.

Point of View

It's essential to recognize the implications of Malviya's return to Congress. This event not only reflects shifting alliances within Rajasthan's political landscape but also speaks to broader trends of disillusionment among party ranks. The Congress party's ability to adapt and consolidate its position will be crucial as we move forward.
