Vadodara, Feb 15 (NationPress) On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled a gold-plated idol of Lord Shiva at Sursagar Lake in Vadodara, coinciding with the Maha Shivratri celebrations. He also took part in the Maha Aarti and Shiv Yatra held on this auspicious occasion.
The event was centered around the lake and organized by the Suvarna Sankalp Foundation, drawing a significant crowd of devotees.
Expressing his sentiments on this holy day, HM Shah remarked, "I feel privileged to witness such a sacred event for the city, especially seeing so many residents actively participating in the Shiv Yatra."
He elaborated on the initiative's origins, attributing the vision to Savliwala Maharaj, who aspired to install a magnificent idol of Lord Shiva in the middle of Sursagar and organize a procession on Maha Shivratri, alongside establishing a shrine for Lord Ganesha.
“When a devoted soul makes a vow, even the toughest commitments can be achieved. The grand idol of Sarveshwar Mahadev and today’s Shiv Yatra exemplify this,” he stated.
HM Shah noted that this project has evolved in phases since 1996, with contributions from Savliwala Swami, Pujya Pramukh Swami, and countless devotees.
He congratulated Yogeshbhai Patel, the founder of the Suvarna Sankalp Foundation, for his relentless efforts over the years and acknowledged the community's support in making this initiative a reality.
In his speech, the Home Minister also highlighted the initiatives undertaken in the past 11 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership to reinforce Sanatan traditions.
He stated, "The symbols of dignity that were disrespected during foreign rule are being restored to their rightful places of reverence."
He referenced significant projects such as the construction of a temple for Lord Ram in Ayodhya, the enhancement of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, the rebuilding of the Somnath Temple, and the creation of the Mahakal Corridor.
Notable attendees included Vadodara Mayor Pinky Soni, State Minister Manisha Vakil, Vadodara MP Hemang Joshi, along with senior BJP officials, MLAs, and numerous citizens.
