Amit Shah arrived late Thursday evening and immediately convened a meeting at the Raj Bhawan to review security protocols.

The high-level meeting included key officials such as Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, J&K Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, along with other senior representatives from MHA, Army, paramilitary forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police, civil administration, and central and local intelligence agencies.

The Union Home Minister conducted a thorough review of security measures and preparedness for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.

He emphasized the need for maintaining the highest levels of vigilance to ensure a peaceful Yatra experience. Amit Shah stated that both the Central and Union Territory administrations will exert every effort to provide pilgrims with all necessary amenities.

“I chaired a review meeting for the Amarnath pilgrimage, assessing the security arrangements and preparedness for the pilgrims. I directed that we maintain the utmost vigilance to guarantee the seamless completion of this sacred journey. Both the Central Government and J&K administration will spare no effort in facilitating the pilgrims,” Amit Shah shared on X post-meeting.

The meeting lasted approximately one hour and thirty minutes.

The Home Minister plans to visit the border district of Poonch on Friday, where he will speak to civilians affected by Pakistan's shelling. Furthermore, he will address BSF personnel at their Unit Headquarters in Khanetar, inspect damaged religious sites, and distribute job appointment letters to families of victims from the shelling.

The primary focus of the Thursday meeting was on the security and logistical arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra, alongside a commitment to zero tolerance towards infiltration and terrorism. The recent security concerns following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 were thoroughly discussed, with police and security agencies providing updates to the Union Home Minister.

Sources indicate that the Home Minister has instructed security agencies to ensure that terrorists implicated in the Pahalgam incident are swiftly brought to justice.

There has been intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists, predominantly from Pakistan, in the hills of Kathua, Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri, and Poonch. In recent months, security forces have made several contacts with terrorists in these regions.

“The Union Home Minister also discussed various amenities being provided to the pilgrims by civil administration,” sources disclosed.

The Amarnath Yatra for 2025 is set to commence on July 3 and will conclude on August 9, spanning a total of 38 days.
