New Delhi, Dec 9 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to assess anti-Maoist initiatives during his visit to Chhattisgarh next week. This visit marks his inaugural appearance in the Red Zone following the demise of prominent commander Madvi Hidma in a multi-state operation near the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha border last month, as disclosed by an official on Tuesday.
While in Chhattisgarh, HM Shah will participate in the Bastar Olympics event on December 13. Alongside this event, he will evaluate the progress of anti-Maoist operations conducted by security personnel, particularly in light of the ambitious goal to eradicate the rebel presence by March 31, 2026, according to the official.
The Home Minister is also anticipated to engage with the security forces' teams involved in recent successful missions.
The Maoist movement in the nation faced a significant setback with the death of top commander Madvi Hidma, who was killed during an exchange of fire with security forces in Andhra Pradesh's Alluri Sitharamaraju district on November 18.
In the encounter, Hidma’s spouse, Raje, along with four other Maoists, who served as his guards, also lost their lives in the Maredumilli forest area.
Following Hidma’s death, the CRPF reiterated its pledge, in accordance with HM Shah's directive, to completely liberate Chhattisgarh and India from Maoist threats before the March 31, 2026 deadline.
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh visited the newly-established Tadapala in the dense forests of Chhattisgarh's Bastar region on November 21, emphasizing the security force's commitment to eliminate Maoist influence.
The Tadapala Forward Operating Base, established after the landmark 'Operation Black Forest' earlier this year, symbolizes the security forces' dominance in the previously inaccessible Karregutta hills along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border.
This 21-day operation, conducted from April to May 2025, neutralized 31 Maoists, dismantled over 200 hideouts and caves, and instigated a mass exodus, surrenders, and eliminations from the core Maoist stronghold—signifying a pivotal blow to Left-Wing Extremism.
During his visit, DG Singh conducted comprehensive strategic assessments with field commanders, commending the coordinated efforts of the CRPF's elite 205 CoBRA commando unit and 196 Battalion that shifted the dynamics in the Karreguttalu region.
Sources quoted him stating, "The success of 'Operation Black Forest' has cleared the core zones. Now, with permanent Forward Operating Bases like Tadapala, we dominate the terrain year-round."
