Amit Shah's two-day Gujarat visit: Projects across Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad and Bhuj
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah began a two-day visit to Gujarat on Thursday, 29 May 2025, with a packed schedule of inaugurations, foundation stone-laying ceremonies, and organisational meetings spanning the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, Ahmedabad, and Bhuj in Kutch. Shah, who represents the Gandhinagar seat in the Lok Sabha, is undertaking the visit in his dual capacity as a Union minister and constituency MP.
Development Projects Across the Constituency
In Vadsar, Shah inaugurated the newly constructed Jedva Lake, developed under the Anandam Parivar CSR fund. At the same location, and at Jalund and Sardhav, he also inaugurated newly established libraries set up under Toyota Kirloskar Motors Limited's CSR initiative.
At Khatraj, Shah laid the foundation stone for lake beautification works undertaken by the Arvind Foundation and inaugurated a newly constructed village panchayat office. He also inaugurated the Pay Centre Primary School at Moti Bhoyan, along with foundation stone-laying and inauguration of various development works in Sonipur village and in areas under the Kalol and Gandhinagar North assembly constituencies.
A Community Lunch and BJP Organisational Meeting
During his stop in Sonipur, Shah is scheduled to have lunch at the residence of former sarpanch and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker Gandaji Thakor — a gesture that underscores the grassroots outreach dimension of the visit. Later, a meeting of senior BJP office-bearers was held at the party's state headquarters, 'Shri Kamalam', in his presence.
Ahmedabad Engagements: CBSE Office, Hostel, and Bharat Mata Sculpture
In Ahmedabad, Shah inaugurated the CBSE regional office at Chandkheda and a newly constructed hostel building at the Umiyadham campus in Sola. He also unveiled the newly constructed 'Bharat Mata' sculpture developed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation at New Vadaj.
This was followed by a review meeting at the Circuit House, chaired by Shah, on preparations for the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, and World Police and Fire Games — signalling Ahmedabad's continued positioning as a major sporting hub.
Bhuj Visit and Day Two
After completing Thursday's engagements, Shah is expected to travel to Bhuj in Kutch. The second day of the visit on Friday, 30 May 2025 includes additional programmes as part of the two-day Gujarat tour. Details of the Friday schedule were not immediately available.
The visit reflects a pattern of regular constituency-level engagement by Shah, combining developmental optics with party-building activity ahead of the broader political calendar in Gujarat.
