Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday, 16 May chaired a series of review meetings in Ahmedabad to evaluate the progress of development works across the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, covering plantation drives, highway modernisation, public healthcare, and civic administration. By 2.30 pm, Shah had completed six meetings at the South-West Zone Office on Corporate Road in the Jodhpur area of Ahmedabad.

Key Developments Reviewed

The meetings examined the progress of the 'Green Lok Sabha' initiative, including pre-monsoon plantation activities planned across the constituency. Officials said discussions also covered modernisation works on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway and the restoration and interlinking of ponds within the constituency.

Shah further reviewed development works linked to the Gujarat Urban Development Company (GUDC) and Mansa municipality, alongside the functioning of public hospitals in the constituency. A separate session assessed activities of the Akhand Anand and Sastu Sahitya Mudranalaya Trust.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Das were present across the sessions.

Evening Engagements Scheduled

Two additional meetings were slated for later in the day. At 4.15 pm, Shah was scheduled to meet incharges and co-incharges associated with the 'Toy Collection Campaign' under the 'Ramshe Balak – Khileshe Balak' initiative. At 4.45 pm, he was set to meet newly-elected councillors of the Ahmedabad Municipal Union (AMU) from the Ghatlodia, Vejalpur, Naranpura and Sabarmati Assembly segments.

Madhur Dairy Plant Inauguration on Sunday

Shah's two-day Gujarat visit continues on Sunday, 17 May, when he is scheduled to inaugurate a newly-built, fully automated milk processing and packaging plant of Madhur Dairy at Dashela village in Gandhinagar district. The facility has been constructed at an estimated cost of ₹128 crore and carries an initial milk processing capacity of 2.5 lakh litres per day, expandable to 5 lakh litres daily in future.

Madhur Dairy is affiliated with the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) and recorded an average daily milk procurement of approximately 2.76 lakh litres during 2025-26. Officials said the expanded facility is expected to improve procurement and processing capacity and benefit dairy farmers linked to the cooperative network in the district.
