Amaravati, July 27 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, is actively seeking to rekindle collaboration with Singapore regarding the Amaravati capital city initiative.
This was conveyed to Shilpak Ambule, the Indian High Commissioner to Singapore, during their meeting on Sunday at the start of his visit to Singapore.
CM Naidu reminisced about the previous partnership with Singapore on the Amaravati project, acknowledging that certain events during the 2019-2024 timeframe led to Singapore's withdrawal from the endeavor. He stated that one of his visit's goals is to clear up past misunderstandings and foster renewed cooperation.
The Chief Minister underscored that the state possesses plentiful investment opportunities spanning various sectors, such as ports and green energy.
The Andhra Pradesh government is enacting progressive policies to attract investments from companies based in Singapore, according to the Chief Minister.
He asserted that Andhra Pradesh can act as a vital gateway for Singaporean investments into India and called for the necessary backing to facilitate this.
As per the Chief Minister's Office, the High Commissioner noted the significant recognition and esteem that the ‘CBN Brand’ holds within Singapore's governmental and industrial circles.
Ambule also shared insights into Singapore’s accomplishments across various sectors, its impressive economic growth, and the effective public policies currently in place. He highlighted the contributions and presence of the Indian community in Singapore.
He provided CM Naidu with an overview of the strategies being implemented in Singapore in critical areas such as healthcare, green hydrogen, aviation, semiconductors, ports, and industrial development. He further emphasized the strong diplomatic and economic ties between India and Singapore, pointing out that Singaporean businesses are particularly keen on exploring investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister elaborated on the state’s newly launched policies aimed at attracting investments across diverse sectors. He reaffirmed the state's ambitious target of generating 160 gigawatts of green energy. He informed the High Commissioner that green hydrogen initiatives have already commenced in Visakhapatnam (in collaboration with NTPC) and Kakinada.
He announced that under the India Quantum Mission, Andhra Pradesh is poised to establish the nation’s first Quantum Valley in Amaravati. Furthermore, CM Naidu disclosed that global tech giant Google is setting up a data center in Visakhapatnam.
Emphasizing the state’s industrial potential, he pointed out that regions like Rayalaseema provide highly favorable conditions for establishing defense, aerospace, electronics, and automobile manufacturing facilities.
Ambule remarked that 83% of Singapore’s populace benefits from public housing projects. In response, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, P. Narayana, offered an overview of Andhra Pradesh’s housing initiatives.
Minister for IT and Education, Nara Lokesh, detailed the measures being implemented in the education sector along with the government's future roadmap. He mentioned the presence of leading academic institutions already operating in the state and confirmed that Andhra Pradesh is fully equipped to host additional prestigious institutions shortly.
