Tirupati, Jan 6 (NationPress) In a tragic turn of events, a man allegedly took the life of a woman after she declined to continue their extramarital affair, only to die by suicide shortly thereafter in Tirupati, as reported by police on Tuesday.
The individual accused in this heinous act, known as Somasekhar, was employed as a gas delivery person. He fatally injured the victim, identified as Lakshmi, by slitting her throat in his residence on Monday.
Both individuals were in their early 30s.
Lakshmi hailed from Khammam in the neighboring state of Telangana and had been living in the Jeevakona area with her husband and child. She worked at a roadside eatery close to the RTC bus stand in the temple city.
Somasekhar resided in Guttivaripalli, within the Renigunta mandal of Tirupati district, and was employed at a gas agency in Tirupati town. Following his separation from his wife, he had been living alone in a room located in Maruti Nagar, Korlagunta, on the outskirts.
Recently, Lakshmi had moved to Tirupati with her family in search of better job opportunities and was employed at a samosa outlet near the bus stand.
According to police reports, Somasekhar became acquainted with Lakshmi during deliveries to the samosa shop, which eventually led to an affair.
When Lakshmi decided to end the relationship, Somasekhar was enraged. He allegedly invited her to his place under the guise of a final meeting.
During their conversation, an argument broke out, escalating to violence as Somasekhar, in a fit of rage, murdered Lakshmi with a knife. Following this brutal act, he took his own life by hanging from a ceiling fan in the same room.
The incident was uncovered when neighbors grew suspicious and alerted the police.
Authorities recovered both bodies from Somasekhar’s residence and transported them to a government hospital for post-mortem examinations.
A case has been registered, and the investigation is currently ongoing, as stated by Tirupati East Circle Inspector Srinivasulu.
