Amaravati, July 27 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has reached out to the global urban infrastructure firm Surbana Jurong, urging them to invest in extensive housing development projects within the state and inviting them to join the ‘Housing for All’ initiative spearheaded by the state government.
During a meeting with the Chief Minister on Sunday, which marked the initial day of his five-day trip to Singapore, representatives from the firm conveyed their strong interest in investing in Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s commitment to infrastructure enhancement, emphasizing the ongoing development of 20 ports and 15 airports, with the aim of establishing Andhra Pradesh as a logistics hub. He shared his vision for transforming particular regions into industrial townships and encouraged the company to seize investment opportunities in the state.
In a separate meeting, Tan Sri Dato’ A. K. Nathan, the Chairman and Managing Director of Eversendai Engineering, a prominent construction enterprise from Malaysia, also engaged with Chief Minister Naidu.
Discussions primarily revolved around the proposal to establish a cutting-edge manufacturing facility and an integrated training center in Andhra Pradesh.
The Eversendai Chairman indicated that they are considering either Visakhapatnam or Krishnapatnam as potential sites for the facility to facilitate nationwide distribution of products, with the proposed manufacturing unit projected to cover about 2 lakh square meters.
This proposed investment is anticipated to play a crucial role in boosting industrial growth and generating substantial employment in the state.
Additionally, Eversendai expressed interest in contributing to infrastructure initiatives related to the development of Amaravati, the state capital. The Chairman also discussed plans for establishing a Structural Engineering Training Center in partnership with esteemed institutions such as IIT Tirupati and IIIT Sri City.
The company has a notable history of involvement in significant projects, including the Burj Khalifa, Petronas Towers, DLF Downtown Taramani in Chennai, and the Statue of Unity in Gujarat.
