Amaravati, Jan 16 (NationPress) The government of Andhra Pradesh has announced plans to launch the AP Futuristic Innovation and Research in Science and Technology (AP FIRST) centre in the Tirupati area of Tirumala district.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu granted approval on Friday for the establishment of this significant research facility.
During a meeting with experts from the aerospace-defence and IT-digital transformation industries, he emphasized that the centre should comprehensively address future demands while empowering the state's youth.
AP FIRST will be created in collaboration with two esteemed national institutions located in Tirupati: the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER).
The Chief Minister expressed the objective of developing this research centre into a highly esteemed institution.
He urged state officials to engage with the Central government for the effective management of AP FIRST.
Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of the centre coordinating with universities and leading industries across multiple sectors.
"Students from both government and private universities are currently working on innovative concepts, which must be leveraged. Continuous collaboration with industries is essential to enhance skills among the youth across various domains," he remarked.
The Chief Minister also pointed out the necessity of identifying and incorporating emerging technologies into academic curricula in collaboration with educational institutions.
He called for a strengthening of the Drone Corporation and emphasized expanding the application of drones in agriculture and emergency medical services.
He instructed the Drone Corporation to establish a group of expert advisors.
"By the upcoming International Drone Day, we should showcase the state government's initiatives in utilizing drones for service delivery to the public," he stated.
The Chief Minister suggested conducting thorough studies on concepts such as drone taxis and drone ambulances.
"Coordinate with the Central authorities to explore the feasibility of creating a Drone Traffic Control Management System, akin to air traffic control management," he directed the officials.
The Chief Minister asserted that the state government is dedicated to shaping the future for the youth and is ready to provide all necessary support.
He underlined the importance of identifying sectors that will present future opportunities while enhancing skills among the youth.
The Chief Minister mentioned that the state government is formulating strategies to ensure comprehensive development.
"Companies from various sectors are showing interest in investing. In the future, sectors like aerospace, defence, space technology, AI, cybersecurity, semiconductor devices, sensors, quantum technology, healthcare, biotechnology, green energy, and technologies for rural areas will be pivotal. The state government is developing policies to encourage investments in these areas," he added.
"For the first time in India, we are establishing a green ammonia plant in Kakinada as part of the green energy initiative. Similarly, the state aims to become a hub for innovations and start-ups. It is the government's obligation to supply skilled youth to the companies and industries that emerge," he concluded.
Participating in the meeting were Aerospace and Defence Advisor Satish Reddy, IT-Digital Transformation Advisor Amit Duggar, IIT Tirupati Director K.N. Satyanarayana, Senthil Kumar, DMTI Director Colonel P.S. Reddy, and other senior officials.
