Namala Srinu, apprehended by police in Macherla on Wednesday night, was presented before a judge on Thursday morning.

Following the judge's ruling, the suspect was transferred to Gurazala sub-jail.

The incident occurred on April 2, when a 32-year-old woman was attacked and raped in her residence in Macherla.

According to reports, the assailant forced himself on the victim at knifepoint, physically assaulted her, and used an iron rod in a brutal manner.

The victim, who works as an attender in the Panchayat Raj Department, had recently relocated from Sattenapalli after separating from her husband. She was living alone with her young nephew, who was away for school holidays at the time of the attack.

Police reported that the assailant gained entry into her home under the pretense of requesting drinking water. He then restrained her with a scarf, gagged her, and proceeded to sexually assault her.

The assault was uncovered when her nephew, unable to reach her by phone, informed his friends. Upon their arrival, they found her unconscious with her hands and feet bound.

She was promptly taken to the hospital, and investigations revealed that the accused was previously known to her.

The suspect, identified as Srinivas, hails from Rajupalem mandal and had formed a connection with the victim through Instagram, which later developed into a closer relationship.

In response to the incident, police established special teams to locate the suspect. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has instructed law enforcement to ensure justice for the victim and uncover the full truth of the incident.
