Mumbai, May 20 (NationPress) Anti-corruption advocate Anjali Damania expressed her discontent with the Maharashtra government regarding the recent inclusion of veteran NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal in the state cabinet.

Immediately following Bhujbal's appointment, Damania took to X to voice her frustration in Marathi, stating: "Congratulations to Maharashtra's coalition government. The state welcomes another ED Bhushan Minister."

Just moments before Bhujbal's swearing-in, she questioned, "Will Chhagan Bhujbal take his oath as a minister at Raj Bhavan at 10 a.m. on Tuesday? Wow, Fadnavis, wow! Does this signify the replacement of one corrupt minister with another? What is happening? Are there truly no principled individuals in politics?"

She continued, "When Bhujbal was imprisoned, the media portrayed him as a complete failure. So, what is the situation now? I feel repulsed by Maharashtra's political landscape. Remember the slogan? 'Action against corrupt officials, Ab Ki bar 400 paar.'"

"Is this the major step taken by the Modi Government against corruption? Is this the action they've promised?" she questioned.

Bhujbal's induction was a result of the unanimous decision made by NCP president and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, party working president Praful Patel, and party state president Sunil Tatkare, particularly before the upcoming local and civic body elections.

As a prominent OBC leader and founder of the Akhil Bharatiya Mahatma Phule Samta Parishad, Bhujbal has been a staunch advocate for the preservation of OBC reservations and a caste-based census.

Following the resignation of another OBC leader, Dhananjay Munde, in March due to the tragic murder of Beed sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, the NCP opted to appoint Bhujbal.

Bhujbal had expressed dissatisfaction after not being included in the cabinet expansion that took place on December 15 of the previous year.

Point of View

The appointment of Chhagan Bhujbal amidst accusations of corruption raises important questions about accountability in politics. Anjali Damania's concerns reflect a broader sentiment among citizens seeking transparency and integrity from their leaders. The ongoing political dynamics in Maharashtra warrant close attention as they unfold.
