Roy's extraordinary journey culminated on May 19, coinciding with the 72nd anniversary of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay’s groundbreaking ascent of Everest on May 29, 1953, according to the spokesperson.

Originating from Agartala, Roy's expedition began with a challenging 1,400-km cycling journey from Agartala to Phaplu, Nepal, which was inaugurated by the Assam Rifles on March 15.

He accomplished this spectacular feat in just 63 days, which encompassed his cycling trek to Phaplu, acclimatization at Base Camp, and the final ascent on Monday (May 19).

This unique preparation not only demonstrated his physical stamina but also emphasized environmental sustainability through cycling, an eco-friendly travel alternative.

“No one from Tripura has climbed Everest before. I am determined to bring pride to my state and nation,” Roy expressed during the flag-off ceremony, extending his gratitude to the Assam Rifles for their comprehensive support in training, logistics, and mountaineering equipment.
