Agartala, March 16 (NationPress) In a remarkable demonstration of perseverance and ambition, Assam Rifles launched Aritra Roy, a skilled mountaineer from Tripura, as he set off on a remarkable mission to conquer Mount Everest.

Originating from Agartala and a certified mountaineer, Aritra aims to mark his name in history as the first person from Tripura to reach the world’s highest peak.

A defence spokesperson stated that Aritra is undertaking a challenging 20-day, 1,500-kilometer cycling journey from Agartala to Phaplu, Nepal. This initiative not only highlights his unwavering determination but also acts as a symbol of environmental sustainability and the promotion of cycling as an eco-friendly transportation method.

Assam Rifles, dedicated to promoting adventure, fitness, and national pride, has played a crucial role in Aritra’s preparation for this monumental challenge. The spokesperson further explained that the para-military force has provided necessary training, equipping him with essential endurance and survival skills, along with vital logistical and administrative support throughout his cycling route.

A seasoned mountaineer, Aritra Roy has previously summited Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Elbrus. With intensive training from the renowned Darjeeling-based Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), he now aims for the ultimate summit, Mount Everest.

Starting his journey from Agartala, Aritra plans to arrive in Nepal’s Phaplu by April 3, after which the trekking and climbing phases will commence.

If successful, his achievement will culminate in an extraordinary finale: participation in the Everest Marathon on May 29, where he will run from Everest Base Camp to Namche Bazaar.
