The Agniveer recruitment initiative was introduced by the Central government in June 2022 under the Agnipath Scheme, a significant reform for soldier recruitment into the Indian Armed Forces.
This innovative system has replaced the conventional recruitment methods and is designed to attract young talent for a four-year engagement, focusing on a streamlined and technology-oriented force.
Under this initiative, selected individuals, referred to as Agniveers, serve in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force for a specified duration, with a chance to apply for permanent roles based on their performance.
The primary aim of the Agnipath Scheme is to cultivate a more youthful and agile military force while providing young aspirants an opportunity to acquire military training and experience.
The scheme includes a structured financial arrangement, featuring a monthly salary starting at Rs 30,000, annual increments, and a one-time 'Seva Nidhi' exit package ranging from Rs 10 to 12 lakh upon completion of service.
Additionally, Agniveers are provided with non-contributory life insurance worth Rs 48 lakh throughout their tenure.
