Key Takeaways
Jammu, Feb 23 (NationPress) General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has expressed his admiration for the personnel of the Indian Army's Northern Command for their exceptional professionalism and unwavering determination in the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in Jammu and Kashmir, according to Army officials.
On Sunday, the Additional Director General of Public Information (ADGPI) of the Indian Army took to their official X account to state, "COAS General Upendra Dwivedi has acknowledged the troops of the Indian Army's Northern Command for their exemplary professionalism and steadfast resolve in the ongoing counter-terror operations in #JammuKashmir."
He further praised their vigilance, operational excellence, and seamless coordination amidst challenging situations.
"The #IndianArmy is committed to achieving enduring peace in #JammuKashmir, maintaining a zero tolerance stance against terrorism in all its manifestations," the ADGPI emphasized.
This acknowledgment from General Dwivedi coincides with a significant operation where the Army, in full cooperation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF, eliminated three terrorists in Kishtwar district.
Among those killed was the notorious Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) Commander, Saifullah, along with his two accomplices during a fierce confrontation in the densely wooded Chatroo region.
Intelligence sources have termed the neutralization of Saifullah a significant achievement in the anti-terrorism campaign in the Jammu division.
This terror faction, led by Saifullah, had reportedly been active in the mountainous districts of Doda, Udhampur, and Kishtwar.
As joint security forces pursued this group of foreign terrorists, they frequently shifted locations, leveraging the rugged and inhospitable terrain to evade detection.
There have been numerous confrontations between the terrorists and the security forces in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar.
The successful operation on Sunday is anticipated to considerably weaken terrorist activities in Jammu division.
On February 7, Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened a high-level security review meeting in Jammu, where he directed security forces to adopt a mission-mode strategy to dismantle the support systems for terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
