New Delhi, Oct 13 (NationPress) The Indian Army Chief, Gen Upendra Dwivedi, engaged in discussions with his French counterpart, General Pierre Schill, on Monday. This meeting took place just before the commencement of the United Nations Troop Contributing Countries' (UNTCC) Chiefs' Conclave, which is set to begin on Tuesday, according to an official announcement.
The two leaders reaffirmed the strong Indo-French strategic partnership, focusing on expanding joint training initiatives, enhancing counter-terrorism efforts, and fostering collaboration in defence technology, as highlighted in a statement on X.
They underscored the significance of improved interoperability in UN peacekeeping missions, the official added.
In addition to meeting the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), General Pierre Schill also made a visit to the National Defence College in Delhi.
During this visit, he addressed and engaged with participants of the 65th course of the National Defence Corps.
The primary aim of General Pierre Schill's trip was to promote interaction among senior military leaders, gain insights into the training curriculum, and share best practices.
With the UNTCC 2025 gathering senior military leaders from 32 nations active in UN peacekeeping operations, the Indian Army chief also met various visiting Army officials throughout the day.
The Army’s social media team reported that General Dwivedi met with Major General Tsogtjargal Chimedgochoo, Commander of the Land Forces of the Mongolian Armed Forces, reaffirming India’s commitment to enhancing Mongolia’s defence capacity-building and coordinating efforts towards global peacekeeping.
Both sides emphasized shared values and agreed to strengthen cooperation through professional military education and regular bilateral exchanges, as per the statement.
In his discussions with General Mario Rafael Stevenazzi, Commander-in-Chief of the Uruguayan Army, the Indian Army chief praised Uruguay’s significant contributions to UN peacekeeping and proposed avenues for enhancing military collaboration through training exercises and bilateral exchanges.
Moreover, the Chief of Army Staff met with his counterpart Lieutenant General BKGM Lasantha Rodrigo, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, during the #UNTCC2025, reaffirming the close defence partnership between the two nations.
