Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik (Retd) on Wednesday, 27 May called upon the youth to safeguard traditional values, indigenous knowledge, languages, and cultural practices, while also championing environmental protection and sustainable living. Speaking at Lok Bhavan in Itanagar, the Governor participated in the Yuva Sangam programme under the 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' initiative, urging young people to stay educated, disciplined, and self-motivated as active contributors to nation-building.

Key Developments at the Yuva Sangam Event

The Governor interacted with students from Uttar Pradesh and the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), which serves as the nodal institution for Arunachal Pradesh under Yuva Sangam Phase VI. NERIST has been paired with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow for this phase. Lt Gen Parnaik advised students to build connections across regions, engage in meaningful exchanges, and deepen the spirit of 'oneness' that binds India together.

Arunachal Pradesh's Potential and Challenges

Addressing the visiting students from Uttar Pradesh, the Governor outlined the state's rich history and developmental journey, highlighting its significant potential in hydropower, horticulture, tourism, and organic farming. He also acknowledged the geographical and infrastructural challenges that the frontier state continues to face, noting that steady progress is being made with the support of the Centre and the resolve of its people.

Cultural and Spiritual Links with the Rest of India

Lt Gen Parnaik drew attention to several sacred and historically significant sites in Arunachal Pradesh that reflect its deep civilisational ties with the rest of India. He specifically referenced Parashuram Kund as a revered spiritual destination rooted in Indian mythology, and highlighted Bhismaknagar and Malinithan for their archaeological and historical importance. These sites, he said, underscore the enduring cultural and spiritual connections between Arunachal Pradesh and the broader Indian nation.

Northeast's Contribution and Call for Equal Treatment

The Governor stressed that the people of the Northeast are as patriotic and devoted to the nation as citizens anywhere else in India, and that the region has consistently contributed to the country's unity, security, culture, and development. He urged that the Northeast deserves equal respect, opportunities, and treatment in every sphere. Calling on the youth to become ambassadors of national unity, he encouraged them to actively dismantle stereotypes and regional barriers through greater interaction, empathy, and mutual appreciation.

The Governor expressed hope that the visiting students would carry back the warmth and hospitality of Arunachal Pradesh's people, and that such exchanges would continue to strengthen inter-regional bonds across India.
