Itanagar, Aug 30 (NationPress) The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.), stated on Saturday that the youth of Arunachal Pradesh are bringing honor to both the state and the country through their exceptional accomplishments at national and international levels.
During a gathering held to mark the 3-day National Sports Day celebration and to encourage physical fitness, the Governor highlighted the necessity for organized talent scouting and the presence of sports medicine professionals to cultivate the vast potential of Arunachal Pradesh's youth.
Additionally, the Governor took part in a badminton match at the Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) located in Rono Hills, Doimukh. Lt. General Parnaik (Retd.), who also holds the position of Chief Rector of RGU, reminded attendees that as India aims to host the Commonwealth Games in 2030 and the Olympic Games in 2036, this is not just a matter of national pride but a call to action for everyone.
He encouraged the youth, especially aspiring athletes, to prepare with dedication and determination so they can excel on the global stage, asserting that sports and fitness are essential for every individual.
A thriving nation, he emphasized, is cultivated not solely by champions but by a community that prioritizes fitness and well-being as a lifestyle. Prof. S. K. Nayak, Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University, and Dr. N.T. Rikam, Registrar of RGU, informed the Governor about the initiatives undertaken by the Central University for the National Sports Day celebration under the theme 'Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Maidan Mey.'
As part of the festivities and to promote traditional games, RGU students showcased demonstrations of indigenous sports during the event. The program was attended by Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare, Vishakha Yadav, Superintendent of Police Taru Gusar, Deans of Faculty, Heads of Department, Directors of Institute, and students from RGU.
