Jaipur, April 7 (NationPress) The High Court of Rajasthan has granted an extension of interim bail to Asaram until July 1, while ensuring compliance with the conditions imposed by the Supreme Court. The session, which occurred on Monday, was presided over by the division bench comprising Justice Dinesh Mehta and Justice Vineet Kumar.

Asaram, who is currently serving a life sentence for the rape of a minor at his ashram in Jodhpur, received relief following a review by the Gujarat High Court.

Previously, Asaram had been on interim bail from January 14 to March 31. After the expiration of this period, he surrendered on April 1. That very night, he was admitted to a private hospital, where he continues to be hospitalized.

His attorney, Nishant Bora, clarified that the hearing concerning the case occurred on April 2. During this session, the victim's lawyer P.C. Solanki accused Asaram of breaching the Supreme Court's directive, which forbade him from delivering sermons.

In response to this allegation, the Rajasthan High Court instructed Asaram to provide an affidavit. Attorney Nishant Bora confirmed that the affidavit was submitted to the court. The court further inquired whether Asaram had preached during his interim bail. An affidavit from the victim was also solicited. The victim's attorney contended that Asaram had indeed breached the conditions of his interim bail as specified by the Supreme Court.

Upon the conclusion of the interim bail, Asaram surrendered at the Jodhpur Central Jail at 1:30 p.m. on April 1. After approximately 10 hours in jail, he was moved to the Arogyam private hospital on Pali Road at 11:30 p.m. the same day.

On April 3, Asaram visited AIIMS for a follow-up examination and returned to Arogyam later that evening. He remains hospitalized there.

On March 28, the Gujarat High Court granted Asaram a three-month interim bail for the second time. Subsequently, when the Rajasthan High Court reconvened on April 1, Nishant Bora sought an expedited hearing regarding the previously filed application.

The court reviewed the case on April 2, and after approximately 30 minutes of discussion, it decided to schedule the next hearing for April 7.
