Mumbai, April 13 (NationPress) A significant chapter in Indian music has concluded as the iconic playback singer Asha Bhosle was laid to rest with full state honours on Monday at the esteemed Shivaji Park in Mumbai.

Affectionately known as 'Asha Tai', she passed away on Sunday, April 12, at the age of 92 due to multi-organ failure following a cardiac arrest. Just a day before her passing, she had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital suffering from severe exhaustion and a chest infection.

The government of Maharashtra granted the esteemed artist a state funeral, an honour typically reserved for individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation.

The farewell ceremony mirrored that of her elder sister, the late Lata Mangeshkar, held at the same historic venue.
