Guwahati, Nov 13 (NationPress) Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized that the Assam government has implemented a zero-tolerance stance towards individuals displaying sympathies for Pakistan. Currently, approximately 100 social media accounts are being examined by security agencies.
Sarma conveyed to reporters, “We have apprehended 17 individuals throughout the state due to their social media posts that praised the recent explosion in the national capital. The government will not tolerate any pro-Pakistan activities occurring on Indian soil, and all incidents will be addressed with the highest level of seriousness.”
The Chief Minister further stated that the security forces are monitoring around 100 social media profiles in Assam, warning that additional arrests will follow if any pro-Pakistan content is discovered.
He asserted, “The campaign against Pakistan sympathizers has commenced in the state and will persist until all anti-national elements are completely eradicated.”
Earlier today, the Chief Minister announced via the social media platform X that 15 individuals had been detained in Assam for sharing objectionable posts that reportedly aimed to justify or celebrate the bombings.
He stressed that the government has instructed the police to take decisive action against any efforts to disrupt communal harmony or propagate hatred through online channels.
“In relation to the offensive social media posts following the Delhi blasts, 15 individuals have been arrested across Assam to date. The Assam Police remains unyielding against those who glorify violence,” CM Sarma posted on X.
According to the Chief Minister, nine individuals were arrested overnight, in addition to six earlier arrests. The latest detainees include Rafijul Ali from Bongaigaon, Forid Uddin Laskar from Hailakandi, Inamul Islam and Firuj Ahmed alias Papon from Lakhimpur, Shahil Shoman Sikdar alias Shahidul Islam and Rakibul Sultan from Barpeta, Nasim Akram from Hojai, Taslim Ahmed from Kamrup, and Abdur Rohim Mollah alias Bappy Hussain from South Salmara.
