Chandigarh, Nov 13 (NationPress) The Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) of Punjab, Arpit Shukla, announced on Thursday that to guarantee a safe and seamless celebration of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the state police have rolled out a thorough, multi-tiered security and facilitation strategy, utilizing advanced surveillance technologies.
The events commemorating this significant occasion will take place in Anandpur Sahib from November 23 to 25, and are anticipated to attract hundreds of thousands of devotees globally.
Special DGP Shukla, together with Special DGP (Security) Sudhanshu S. Srivastava and other senior officials, reviewed the security and traffic management plans in situ.
The police force will consist of approximately 10,000 personnel, overseen by an Additional Director General of Police (ADGP)-rank nodal officer. Additionally, there will be the deployment of seven Inspector Generals of Police, numerous Deputy-rank officers, 22 Commandants, 45 Superintendents of Police, and 94 Deputy Superintendents of Police to ensure the event proceeds peacefully.
All police personnel have been briefed on the scale and significance of the event, ensuring they remain highly alert and dedicated to their duties.
Highlighting the heavy reliance on modern technology, he stated that a sophisticated control room is being set up, integrated with over 300 AI-enabled CCTV cameras featuring facial recognition technology, along with 25 automatic number plate recognition cameras at all city entry and exit points.
In addition, seven drone teams will conduct continuous aerial monitoring.
To deter and prevent any potential incidents, information on known snatchers in the Ropar district has been incorporated into the facial recognition system. Mounted police patrols and smart barricades will also be in place to maintain law and order effectively, according to Special DGP Shukla.
To manage traffic and reduce inconvenience for the devotees, the district police have collaborated with IIT Ropar to scientifically map parking areas, creating 30 parking lots across 101 acres with real-time surveillance.
Additionally, 24x7 shuttle services will transport devotees to all event venues, and three tent cities, accommodating up to 10,000 individuals, are being established.
A dedicated pedestrian pathway along the highway and 60 outer divergence points with checkpoints will be set up to manage vehicle flow effectively.
