New Delhi, Oct 16 (NationPress) The Punjab administration is set to initiate a series of commemorative events honoring the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Guru, starting with an ‘ardas’ at the Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib on October 25.
State Cabinet Ministers Harjot Singh Bains and Tarunpreet Singh Sond announced that a month-long schedule has been finalized for this significant occasion.
The events will kick off on October 25 at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi, where Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Cabinet Ministers, and other distinguished guests will pay their respects.
During this event, the Chief Minister will also visit the hallowed martyrdom sites of Bhai Mati Das-ji, Bhai Sati Das-ji, and Bhai Dayala-ji, who made extraordinary sacrifices in devotion to the Guru.
In the evening, a grand Kirtan Darbar will take place at Gurdwara Sri Rakab Ganj Sahib, where a large gathering of devotees is anticipated to attend with deep reverence. The ministers emphasized that Guru Tegh Bahadur sacrificed his life in Delhi to safeguard human rights and religious freedom, a sacrifice unparalleled in global history.
The Ninth Guru symbolizes secularism, unity, and universal brotherhood, and his life and teachings continue to illuminate the path for humanity. From November 1 to 18, light and sound shows will be conducted across all districts in Punjab, showcasing the remarkable life and teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur. Kirtan darbars will also be organized in towns and cities graced by the Guru’s presence.
The primary aim of these events is to enlighten the public about the Guru’s philosophy, his life of sacrifice, and the timeless message of peace and humanity that inspires millions worldwide.
Furthermore, on November 19, a Nagar Kirtan will commence from Srinagar, with hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits expected to join. This Nagar Kirtan will pause at Jammu on November 19, Pathankot on November 20, and Hoshiarpur on November 21 before reaching Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 22. Concurrently, on November 20, three Nagar Kirtans will begin from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo), Faridkot, and Gurdaspur, all converging at Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 22.
To commemorate this historic occasion, the state government will host significant events at Sri Anandpur Sahib from November 23 to 25. A special tent city named “Chakk Nanaki” will be established to accommodate thousands of devotees attending the commemoration.
