After the event, residents shared their heartfelt reactions, emphasizing that the project surpassed all expectations. One resident remarked, "We never thought in our wildest dreams that the Prime Minister of the nation would achieve something so monumental — truly beyond our imagination."
Another local shared similar feelings, stating, "We had never envisioned this before. Today, we can proudly declare that the Prime Minister has made this happen for our nation's security..."
A third local added, "We never thought such progress would occur on this road. It seemed impossible until today when we witnessed it ourselves for the first time. We feel an immense sense of pride..."
On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Emergency Landing Facility located on the National Highway in Moran, within Assam's Dibrugarh district. This facility is the first of its kind in the entire northeastern region, as confirmed by government officials.
Immediately after the inauguration, the Prime Minister attended an air show conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF). The display featured Rafale, Sukhoi, and MiG fighter jets, which successfully executed take-offs and landings on the specially designed highway strip, showcasing the operational capabilities of the facility.
Officials reported that around one lakh people gathered to witness this momentous event.
Situated in Upper Assam, the ELF on the Moran Bypass is seen as a significant strategic enhancement to India’s military infrastructure in the Northeast. It grants the IAF greater operational flexibility in a region that has experienced rising tensions in recent years.
The Moran ELF has been designed to serve as an alternative landing site in scenarios where Dibrugarh Airport or the Chabua Air Force Station becomes inaccessible due to operational challenges or emergencies.
For the IAF, this facility significantly bolsters its capacity to respond quickly to emergencies near sensitive border areas, marking a vital advancement in the preparedness for national security.
