Assam CM Expresses Deep Concern Over Violence Against Hindus in Bangladesh

Guwahati, Dec 10 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, remarked on Tuesday that the persistent violence targeting the Hindu minority in Bangladesh is extremely distressing.
He stated: “Our hearts ache for the ongoing violence against the Hindu minority in Bangladesh. The dreadful acts against minority communities in our neighboring country have truly touched our hearts. Hindus have already faced assaults in Pakistan, and now they are enduring horrors in another Islamic nation, Bangladesh.”
He added, “It is evident that any nation built on religious extremism struggles to deliver justice to its minority groups. In India, our minority communities are safeguarded because we are a secular nation.”
“I urge individuals to reflect on the events in Bangladesh and Pakistan and I plead with those in India who celebrate the victories of Bangladesh and Pakistan in cricket - they should refrain from doing so,” he continued.
Additionally, Sarma emphasized that Assam should take cues from Israel - a nation that has effectively navigated challenges posed by its neighboring Islamic countries over many years.
“I encourage the people of Assam to draw lessons from Israel. This Middle Eastern nation, surrounded by Islamic states, has managed to remain resilient through the use of science and technology. I advise the youth of Assam to delve into Israel's history. Assam, too, faces numerous challenges from neighboring countries, and we must tackle these challenges moving forward,” he remarked.
On the topic of progress, CM Sarma highlighted that Assam is on the fast track to becoming one of the most developed states in India.
He said, “We are not only constructing a bridge over the Brahmaputra but are also planning to develop an underwater tunnel.”
Recently, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma conducted a crucial meeting with Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to discuss the advancement of significant projects within the state. The state government is focused on the timely execution of its ambitious project - an underwater tunnel in the Brahmaputra River connecting Gohpur and Numaligarh.
Sarma noted that the Union Road Transport Ministry is enthusiastic about initiating this project in the near future.
