A Defence Spokesperson revealed that the three-day festivities, which took place from August 29 to 31, honored hockey icon Major Dhyan Chand and were carried out in Chandel, Thoubal, and Tengnoupal districts, engaging local residents in an inspiring display of sportsmanship and unity.
In Chandel district, celebrations included activities in Sajik Tampak, Longja, Hringphe, Molcham, and Changpol.
The activities kicked off on August 30 in Sajik Tampak with a friendly volleyball match between Assam Rifles personnel and youth from Longja village, followed by an interactive fitness awareness session for 40 children at the Oriental Children's Home in Hringphe.
This event witnessed enthusiastic participation from villagers, local authorities, and civil society members, who praised the Force's initiatives in nurturing goodwill and national pride.
In Thoubal district, a friendship volleyball match was held at the Assam Rifles company operating base on Sunday, involving 45 participants (27 Assam Rifles personnel and 18 local students).
