Imphal, Jan 8 (NationPress) As part of the Indian Army's Operation 'Sadbhavana' (Goodwill) initiative, the Assam Rifles organized a large-scale specialist medical camp in the Tengnoupal district of Manipur, which borders Myanmar, according to officials.

A Defence Spokesman stated that this extensive medical camp was conducted at the Tengnoupal High School to offer accessible healthcare to the remote and underserved communities of the district.

The camp was facilitated by a team of specialized physicians from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal, providing thorough consultations in various fields such as ophthalmology, general medicine, paediatrics, gynaecology, dentistry, and orthopaedics, according to the spokesman.

Nearly 2,000 local residents enthusiastically participated, receiving health examinations, preventive healthcare advice, and complimentary medications.

The involvement of specialists from RIMS allowed for high-level interventions across multiple important medical fields.

A significant number of consultations in gynaecology and paediatrics were provided to women and children, ensuring that these vulnerable demographics received essential supplements and diagnostic guidance.

In the areas of ophthalmology and orthopaedics, the medical team addressed numerous elderly patients suffering from age-related vision loss and musculoskeletal issues often worsened by the challenging terrain.

The dentistry section conducted necessary procedures while educating patients on preventive oral care, delivering a service that is typically hard to access in these underserved regions.

A dedicated team of 65 officials and troops ensured the camp's successful execution through effective coordination and logistical support.

Local civil society groups remarked that this initiative offered modern healthcare amenities to marginalized border villagers, particularly benefitting women and children.

This camp is part of a continuous series of civic action events organized by the Assam Rifles aimed at promoting civilian welfare and ensuring healthcare accessibility throughout the region.
